- For Cookies:
- 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup unsalted butter softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- ½ tsp almond extract optional
- ½ tsp baking powder
- ½ tsp salt
For Royal Icing:
- 3 cups powdered sugar
- 2 tbsp meringue powder
- 5 tbsp warm water
- ½ tsp vanilla extract
- Pink/red food coloring
- Sprinkles
Make Dough: Cream butter + sugar. Add egg + extracts. Mix dry ingredients; combine with wet. Chill 1-2 hours.
Roll & Cut: Roll dough to ¼-inch thickness. Cut hearts. Bake at 350°F for 8-10 mins. Cool.
Make Icing: Whisk powdered sugar, meringue powder, water, and extract. Color, then decorate!
