Prep Time 10 minutes mins
Total Time 10 minutes mins
- 1 can 15 oz chickpeas, drained and rinsed
- 1/4 cup tahini sesame paste
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
- 1 garlic clove minced
- Salt to taste
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cumin optional
- Fresh pita bread cut into wedges
- Paprika or fresh parsley for garnish
Make the hummus:
In a food processor or blender, combine the chickpeas, tahini, olive oil, lemon juice, garlic, salt, and cumin (if using). Blend until smooth and creamy. If the hummus is too thick, add water one tablespoon at a time until you get your desired consistency.
Taste and adjust:
Taste your hummus and add more salt or lemon juice if needed.
Warm the pita bread:
Warm the pita bread in the oven or on a skillet for a few minutes until soft. Then cut it into wedges for dipping.
Serve:
Spoon the hummus into a serving bowl, drizzle with a little olive oil, and sprinkle with paprika or fresh parsley for garnish. Serve with the warm pita bread wedges. Enjoy!
- Make ahead: Hummus can be made a day or two in advance. Store in an airtight container in the fridge and bring to room temperature before serving.
- Crispy pita: For a crispier pita, brush the wedges with olive oil and bake at 375°F (190°C) for 5-10 minutes.
