For the crust
- 1 package graham crackers or digestive biscuits
- 4 tablespoons melted butter
For the banana cream layer
- 3 –4 ripe bananas not too soft, but nicely spotted
- 1 package 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- ½ cup powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 tub 8 oz whipped topping (like Cool Whip)
For the chocolate layer
- 1 large box 5.9 oz instant chocolate pudding mix
- 3 cups cold milk
For the topping
- Extra banana slices
- Shaved chocolate or chocolate chips
- Whipped cream optional
Make the crust
Crush the graham crackers until fine (use a food processor or put them in a bag and smash with a rolling pin).
Mix with the melted butter until it resembles wet sand.
Press the mixture into the bottom of a 9x13-inch dish to form an even layer.
Chill the crust in the fridge while preparing the filling.
Make the banana cream layer
In a bowl, beat the cream cheese until smooth.
Add powdered sugar and vanilla and mix again.
Fold in the whipped topping gently using a spatula.
Slice the bananas thin and gently fold them into the cream mixture.
Spread this layer evenly over the graham cracker crust.
Make the chocolate pudding layer
In a separate bowl, whisk the pudding mix and cold milk for 2 minutes until it thickens.
Pour the pudding over the banana cream layer and spread evenly.
Chill and serve
Cover the dessert with plastic wrap.
Chill in the fridge for at least 4 hours (overnight is even better).
Slice and serve cold. Each bite will have a perfect mix of creamy, sweet, and rich chocolate flavors.
-
Banana selection: Use bananas that are ripe but not mushy for the best texture.
-
Chill time: Don’t skip chilling! It helps the layers set and come together.
-
For added crunch: Add crushed pretzels or chopped nuts between layers for extra texture.
-
Extra sweetness: Drizzle with caramel sauce for a decadent touch.
